Web site design Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Web site design - Essay Example Customers engage personally with the company through making their orders online. As such, they can specify the exact requirements of their order, i.e. the color, flavor, taste and type of the Pizzas they want through the online platform, just as simply as making an order at a brick and mortar restaurant. This web site enabled PizzaHut to transform significantly from operating as a Quick Serve Restaurant (QSR) to an elevated online retailer providing convenience and efficiency to its customers. Once the customers make an order through the PizzaHut.com website, the company takes upon the duty of delivering their orders at their preferred premises within the stipulated times (Butler, 2012). Several elements of website design exist that a company should incorporate in order to make its website a success. As such, PizzaHut.com also had to engage these in developing its site. These include the website context, the website content, the website customization, the website communications, the website commerce, website communities on site, and the website connection designs elements. PizzaHut.com incorporates all these elements in a great deal. For instance, the website context provides its customers with the ability to make online purchases and order without necessarily having to go to the restaurants. The website content is rich enough to enable the customers make an informed purchase, i.e. includes offers of the day, special deals and promotional campaigns hosted by the company. Website customization enables clients to customize their orders according to their tastes and preferences, such as express checkout and movie night offers. In addition, website communications come with ease of using the site, i.e. its color, style and appearance, thereby enabling shoppers to do easy shopping. Website commerce supports the business wing of the company enabling shoppers to make purchases through various applications such as on Facebook, on twitter, on iPhones and

Play and Work Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Play and Work - Essay Example Really, the working process usually brings much pleasure. As for me, I work to realize my abilities, feel myself significant, not to lose time. The given paper will prove that even the richest people can’t do without everyday work. How do we benefit from work? First of all, work teaches people how to be responsible. This explains why children from comfortable families are eager to work. They want to hold the responsibility for their future and do not want to account only on their parents. The sense of responsibility helps us build a happy family. A person who is not responsible for his/her own life will not be able to become responsible for the family, thus his/her family will not be strong and happy. Moreover, the sense of responsibility of the countries’ citizens is the guarantee of state’s thriving and prosperity. The word â€Å"work† is the antonym to the word â€Å"idleness†, and we know what consequences idleness may have. Even if a person has money and may not work for it, he/she still should take effort to make the money work for him/her. This is also a work that will not allow this person to appear without a penny one day. When a person is doing nothing, it leads to wastefulness and wastefulness in its turn leads to poverty. There are many examples that testify that idleness is destructive. Any amount of money can be easily spent during a short period of time. Thus, even the richest people prefer to work rather than doing nothing. Furthermore, many rich ones know pretty well that it is not very easy to become rich, thus they do their best to save their money and the only way to save it is to continue working. The work helps us be healthy and in a good shape. When we do not work, we are degrading and our personality is not developing. We need constant practice in order to keep the knowledge we once gained. That is why old people prefer to work even after retirement. They do not want to lose the skills and knowledge. Ol d people also state that working after retirement help them feel young and healthy. Every work is beneficial. Unfortunately, in our society people prefer to respect only intellectual work. It is valued high and, thus, brings more money. Certainly, intellectual work demands getting an appropriate education, therefore many people do their best and sacrifice much in order to receive a good education. However, I consider manual work to be not less important. In the article "brains as well as brawn" Mike Rose talks about the injustice that presents in our society. The author shares the feelings he had watching a carpenter working: â€Å"I am watching a carpenter install a set of sliding French doors in a tight wall space. He stands back, surveying the frame, imagining the pieces as he will assemble them. What angle is required to create a threshold that will shed water? Where might the sliding panels catch or snag? How must the casings be remade to match the woodwork in the rest of the room? And how can he put it all together fast enough and smart enough to make his labor pay?† (Rose 337). Here we can see that the work of carpenter is really difficult and unique, it demands much efforts. Unfortunately, nobody thinks about it and nobody notices his work. In our modern world everybody wants to become an economist, a manager, a translator, but there are few people who value manual work. We prefer to value the work of accountant or a doctor, but never notice the work of, for example, a waitress and the number of tasks she has to implement:

Existentialism In No Exit Essay -- essays research papers

In his play, No Exit, Jean-Paul Sartre examines basic themes of existentialism through three characters. The first subject, Garcin, embraces existentialist ideas somewhat. The second character, Inez, seems to fully understand ideas deemed existential. Estelle is the third person, and does not seem to understand these ideas well, nor does she accept them when they are first presented to her. One similarity amongst the three is that they all at some point seem to accept that they are in Hell for a reason.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Garcin admittedly is in Hell because he was unkind and unfaithful to his wife. He however, does not wish he had acted differently, for he says, “I tell you I regret nothing (p. 24).'; In this respect of acknowledging and owning up to his actions, Garcin is following existentialist laws. However, he sometimes violates them. For example, he is so preoccupied with the idea that he is a coward that he demands the women to renounce this and declare his masculinity. He is so dependent upon this that he refuses to engage in sexual activity with Estelle until she affirms him. This is anti-existential because according to its principles, he should not have to rely on others for confidence.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Inez is in Hell because she had seduced her cousin’s wife, then conspired to make his life miserable, until he finally stepped in front of a tram and was killed. Inez also brought a lot of guilt upon her lover, Floren...

Peer Pressure

Peer pressure is when a person is forced or under strong influence from their friends to do something be it good or bad. Peer pressure can have both positive and negative effects. Hence this essay will discuss about the positive and negative effect of peer pressure. Firstly, a little peer pressure can be a tool to motivate students to achieving great heights. For instance, when a weak student is struggling with his studies, his classmates can help by encouraging him in every little improvement he makes. This will not only make the weak student feel motivated to study, but also to improve his friendship with his friends. Secondly, with peer pressure, students can help their friends who are addicted to smoking. They can constantly remind, nag and scold the classmate who is smoking to not smoke. This will pressure the student who is smoking to quit his bad habit as all his friends are against it. This is another positive effect of peer pressure. Lastly, peer pressure can help in situations when 2 students are fighting. Students can use peer pressure to strongly discourage the two parties from fighting and instead, help to mediate and let them talk things out. Thus resolving all conflicts. However, There are negative effects to peer pressure too Firstly, there are numerous students who smoke in schools. These students may go around forcing their wills onto other innocent students to smoke. Because they are in groups and are intimidating the innocent students maybe forced into smoking. There is a high chance that they will pick up the bad habit too. Secondly, peer pressure can cause students to be depressed. For instance, when a student is being picked on in class by a group of ‘popular’ students. He might feel that he is unwanted and that the class hates him. Sooner or later, he will be depressed and hate coming to school. This is damaging to the student’s mental health as he is constantly afraid of people attacking him verbally or even physically. To sum up, there are many effects of peer pressure, both positive and negative effects. Peer pressure can be used to motivate, inspire and build up relationship with one another. However, they can also be destructive as they can corrupt and destroy people’s lives. ï » ¿Peer Pressure Have you ever been forced to do anything ? Have u ever felt that you are in a tight corner because of someone's comment? We all could face situations like that; we all could have faced peer pressure. What is peer pressure? â€Å"Peer pressure is when someone or a group of people influences or encourages others to do things they do not want to do or tries to change people’s attitude, or behavior towards something or it is the feeling that someone of your own age is pushing you towards making a certain choice, good or bad†( http://www.thecoolspot.gov/pressures.asp). Peer pressure is mostly common among teens, they could accept to do something they don't want to do as their friends would make fun of them or everyone is just trying to fit in.Because when you act in a different way you are considered an outsider and not cool. The desire to fit in can go as far as doing things you have never imagined. We all are influenced by our peers, both negatively and positively. It help s us to define who we are. It is how we chose to react to peer pressure that defines who we are as individuals. Are we a leader or a follower? Both types of people are needed to make the world go round or just you may lose yourself and forget who you are just to satisfy your peers. Peers influence your life, even if you do not realize it, just by spending time with you.You learn from them, and they learn from you. It is only human nature to listen to and learn from other people in your age group. Peers can have a positive influence on each other. For example, a student in your science class taught you an easy way to remember something related to the subject. You might admire a friend who is always a good support for you and try to be like him, these are examples of how peers positively influence each other every day.Sometimes peers influence each other in negative ways. For example, some people in school might try to get you to cut class with them, or your friend might try to convin ce you to try to start smoking or taking drugs with him, or your friend in might want you to shoplift with  him. The causes of peer pressure are so many, One of the main reasons that can lead to peer pressure is lack of self-confidence, the feeling of being alone, not accepted by anyone or by society, everyone is making fun of you and the desire to fit in, these reasons can affect anyone easily and put him under this pressure. One of the causes also is changing the environment you are used to, like leaving high school and going to University, meeting new people with different characters and personalities. Or the big problem might be in the way parents bring up their children. This can affect society in good and bad ways. The effects of negative pressure can lead to the presence of cloning minds different people but have the same mentality, thinking in the same way and acting in an inappropriate way that is unacceptable by the society. A question that always comes up.Why do people g ive in to peer pressure? People give in to peer pressure because they want to be liked, may be Others go along because they are curious to try something new that others are doing. The idea that everybody is doing that thing can influence some people to leave their common sense behind and the way they judge things. How can people combat peer pressure? The normal way of just saying no does not work. Sure, it sounds good to say no but in reality, a person may want to say no, but just cannot as it is tough to be the only one who is facing this pressure, but on the other hand you can pay attention to your feelings and beliefs about the right and wrong things that can help you more self-confidence and having a strong pack up from parents, family even from your teachers can help you stand firm. One of the solutions that help you to run away from peer pressure is to have at least one friend, who is willing to say no too. This takes a lot of the power out of this pressure and makes it much ea sier to resist. Try to ask for advise from your teacher or your family and they will support you facing peer pressure, stay away from friends who use drugs, smoke cigarettes, or even lying. Also try to help a friend who is facing peer pressure or having troubles resisting it, it can be so powerful to one of them by joining the other in order not to  feel alone in this nightmare. To sum up peer pressure is like a nightmare chasing us all, so If you continued to face peer pressure and you are finding it difficult to handle, talk to someone you can trust and don't feel guilty if you have made mistakes. Stand up again and continue your way and prepare youself for the next time you face peer pressure.

The Transformation of Europe Essay - 1252 Words

Over two-hundred years ago, Europe was a vastly different place. To the modern eye, the Europe of the 18th Century would be unrecognizable compared to its current state. However, the road to this new Europe has been not been all kicks and giggles, but a rather rough and tumble journey. Due to the introduction of new ways of thinking, the occurrences of multiple revolutions, changes in government style and leadership, which led to the creation and extinction of numerous countries as well as rearrangement of boundary lines, and the formation of a European Union, Europe today is hardly comparable to the Europe in our history books. The transformation that Europe experienced spanned a period of more than two-hundred years and made it into the†¦show more content†¦All three of these rights were privileges that the upper-class and monarchies stripped from the lower-classes. Other outspoken individuals like Olympe de Gouges, Voltaire, and Pierre Beaumarchais used their individual writings as an outlet to express their criticism of the privileged and high society that held the power in France. De Gouges spoke for the women of the time and fought for their rights and privileges in â€Å"The Declaration of the Rights of Woman.† De Gouges, who wrote of many radical ideas in this piece, implied that men and women’s right should be equal and even drew up her own social contract for marriage. Voltaire’s Candide consisted of harsh critiques of the state, religion, human nature, and even the Enlightenment of which Voltaire was an advocate; Voltaire himself received large amounts of condemnation for his work and Candide was widely banned. Beaumarchais harshly criticized the French monarchy (disguised as a Spanish monarchy), inherited privilege, the institution of marriage, and the roles of men and women. Beaumarchais himself was a big advocate for reform, but not necessarily revolution. However, the idea of Enlightenment, which was heavily represented in these pieces, may have been the fuel that sparked Europe’s fire for change and revolution. Enlightenment brought about the ideas of change: a change in the use of knowledge but also a change in power. Racism and Different Background Ethnicity in Disneys Movies - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 4 Words: 1081 Downloads: 6 Date added: 2019/02/05 Category Society Essay Level High school Tags: Racism Essay Did you like this example? Introduction Walt Disney is one of the biggest entertainment companies to exist with an annual revenue of $59.43 billion (Statista). Yet, some would find it a bit shocking that racism and stereotypes would exist in their films. Because in most homes Disney’s movies are a beloved collection. Though, a lot has changed since the early 1920s when Disney was first founded (Farland, David). But, the question still remains today, do racism and ethnicity exist or play a role in Walt Disney’s animation? Many have argued and believed that most of Disney’s cartoon animation and films have portrayed ethnicity and racial bias along with stereotypical gender roles (Underlying Racism in Disney). Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Racism and Different Background Ethnicity in Disneys Movies" essay for you Create order The Princess and The Frog Compared to Disney’s early animated films, that openly showed racism like Dumbo and Fantasia, Disney has made some progress in improving diversity and depicting ethnic heroes and heroines like Aladdin (1992), Pocahontas (1995), Mulan (1998) and etc (Nunez, Veronica). However, these films contain racist connotations and a distorted portrayal of other cultures (POC, Nerdy). Though she is not heroic and before the film was released, Disney’s first African-American princess Tiana â€Å"The Princess and the Frog† was already undergoing scrutiny for its stereotypical portrayal of African Americans (Barnes, Brooks). Like Disney’s original classic princesses like Snow White and Cinderella, Tiana was hand-drawn, wore a tiara, had an upsweep hairdo, was a songbird, strong-willed and found her prince charming though all odds. Yet, some critics question: Was the film based in New Orleans in the 1920s to degrade African American stereotypes or uplift them? While others were offended by the film’s storyline being based in New Orleans, due to the devastating tragedies of the to the community. Another issue critics had with the film was Prince Naveen and how he was voiced by a Brazilian actor â€Å"Bruno Campos†(Barnes, Brooks). Though in Disney’s offense he is not white. Others believed Disney studio doesn’t think a black man is worthy of the title prince. The characters hair and features described as non-black did not make it better for their defense. At the end of the day, some critics wanted a black prince. Along with Ray the firefly voiced by â€Å"Jim Cumming† some people believe his voice was too much like an uneducated southern African American (Barnes, Brooks). A rumor surfaced about an early script of the film and the Disney’s princess early name and her role in the film. Her original name would have been Madeleine. Maddy for short, but some believed the name was too close to the racist name Mammy (Barnes, Brooks). Maddy’s role in the film would have been a chambermaid for a Caucasian woman, a historical profession for an African American during the 1920s. To a lot of people, the character reminded them too much of slavery and the idea was quickly ignored. But, while others bashed Disney for sticking to stereotypes, others saw differently and applauded Disney for trying to be diverse and add diversity. A web designer from Los Angeles stated â€Å"Who knows if Disney will get it right,† she added. â€Å"They haven’t always in the past, but the idea that Disney is not bending over backward to be sensitive is laughable. It wants to sell a whole lot of Tiana dolls and some Tiana paper plates and make people line up to see Tiana at Disney World.† While members of the N.A.A.C.P. gave extremely positive feedback about the film (Barnes, Brooks). Other Walt Disney’s Animation Though a lot has changed and evolved since the early Disney, people today can’t believe that such an aspiring, positive and innocent media could still have some racist undertone in its animation (Underlying Racism in Disney). Early films like Dumbo that had a crow named Jim Crow and portrayed the crows as pimped hat wearing uneducated speaking crows (YouTube). The Jungle book: All of the animals in the film had proper accents yet, King Louie and the monkeys all spoke jive and wanted to become â€Å"real people†(POC, Nerdy). Directors of the film wanted Louie Armstrong to be the voice of King Louie but did not want to offend the N.A.A.C.P. by voicing a black man the character of a monkey (YouTube). Though judgment is not being passed on the people that we behind the scenes during this time because, certain films where a product of their time and normal to their society. However, films like Aladdin is no excuse. In 1993, The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee was not thrilled with the Aladdin soundtrack and complained to the company for a lyrics change (Barnes, Brooks). (â€Å"Where they cut off your ear/If they don’t like your face/It’s barbaric, but, hey, it’s home†). The committee saw this as disparaging towards the Arab people. Disney did comprise part of the lyrics and released an updated version of the lyrics on VHS (YouTube). Conclusion In conclusion, I am still a very huge Walt Disney fan. But, I feel as though a bit more consideration can go into the idea and production of Disney’s films and animations that are based on people ethnicity, culture, and race so that people are not offended. Disney’s executives feel as though people should stop jumping to race and conclusions about their films when critics feel as though they are trying to be sneaky about including stereotypes or trying to be offensive about their films (Barnes, Brooks). It’s not their intentions. A producer at Disney also stated â€Å"We feel a great responsibility to get this right. Every artistic decision is being carefully thought out† (Barnes, Brooks). While cast members have defended the company as well. Anika Noni Rose voice of Tiana (The Princess and The Frog) stated â€Å"There is no reason to get up in arms,† she told reporters at a Los Angeles Urban League dinner. â€Å"If there was something that I thought was disrespectful to me or to my heritage, I would certainly not be a part of it† (Barnes, Brooks). In the end and until the end of time, people are going to have their own personal opinions about Walt Disney’s films and if they portray racism and stereotypes of people from different background. Who is to say that they are right or wrong? Because, in the end, everyone is entitled to their own personal opinion and feelings and at the end of the day, you can’t please everyone.
